The Analysis menu is used to launch the basic SectionBuilder analysis tasks. To perform analysis tasks, the following step must be completed first.
Figure 1 shows the Analysis menu, which gives access to the following commands.
Once an input file has been loaded into SectionBuilder, the finite analysis of the cross-section can be performed by invoking command Analysis→FE Analysis. Alternatively, clicking on the FEA icon on the toolbar launches the same task.
Depending on the complexity of the cross-section under investigation and the speed of your computer, the analysis task could be completed in a fraction of a second or in a few minutes. When the analysis is completed, icon FEA is greyed out and icon View Section appears, giving you the signal to proceed.
Once the finite element analysis has run to completion, it is time to view the cross-section by invoking command Analysis→View Section. Alternatively, clicking on the View Section icon on the toolbar launches the same task.
Once command Analysis→View Section is given, the cross-section under investigation is drawn on the screen. Figure 2 shows a circular section with fins, as an example. SectionBuilder has generated a two-dimensional mesh of the cross-section. Figure 2 shows the following attributes of the mesh.
