Introduction

The input to SectionBuilder must define the two-dimensional geometry of the beam's cross-section along with the corresponding material properties. Various options are available for this task. This section describes how SectionBuilder reads and translates a mesh file generated by a commercial mesh generation code to constructs the corresponding two-dimensional model of the beam's cross-section.

NOTES

  1. SectionBuilder is capable of reading mesh files of various formats, as indicated by flag MshFileName, which can take the following values.
    • If MshFileName = PATRAN, a Patran type file will be read.
    • If MshFileName = CUBIT, a Cubit type file will be read.
    • If MshFileName = HYPERMESH, a HyperMesh type file will be read.
  2. The name of the mesh file, FileName, must be provided, optionally with its full path.
  3. It is possible to attach comments to the definition of the object; these comments have no effect on its definition.
