Notes

  • ShapeBuilder can generate beam cross-sections in the shape of a IH60 helicopter blade. To define a IH60 section, use the following parameters.
    1. @SHAPE_GROUP: AIRFOIL, and
    2. @SHAPE_TYPE: IH60_SECTION.
  • The base section is a closed section in the shape of an airfoil with an inner wrap, as illustrated in figs. 1, 2, 3, and 4. Core materials fill the front and aft portions of the airfoil.
  • The definition of the geometry of the cross-section relies on the concept of NURBS curves. Ncp control points will be used for the definition of these NURBS curves. (Default: Ncp = 2,048)
  • Optional dimensions @DIMENSION_11 and @DIMENSION_12 define two shaping parameters, denoted α and β, respectively, which are used to round the corners of the section. (Default value: α = β = 0.5).
  • Sectional shapes are defined in their own local coordinate system, which is assumed to coincide with the global coordinate system. If a fixed frame, FrameName, is specified, the local coordinate system coincides with this fixed frame.
  • The mesh density parameter, md, determines the level of mesh refinement. (Default: md = 4)
  • It is possible to attach comments to the definition of the object; these comments have no effect on its definition.

The IH60 rotor blade section: base configuration

  • Fig.1 illustrates the base configuration of the IH60 rotor blade section.
  • The geometric configuration of the IH60 rotor blade section if defined by the dimensions listed in table 1, which are also indicated in figs. 1, 2, 3, and 4. Dimensions labeled in red are required. Dimensions labeled in blue are optional and are assigned the default value indicated in table 1.

  • Zone 1 of the IH60 rotor blade section is defined as follows.
    • It comprises the following faces: FlangeFrontTop, FlangeMiddleTop, FlangeRearTop, TrailingEdgeTop, FlangeFrontBottom, FlangeMiddleBottom, FlangeRearBottom, and TrailingEdgeBottom.
    • It is associated with material Mat1 , which can refer to material properties or solid properties.
  • Zone 2 of the IH60 rotor blade section is defined as follows.
    • It comprises the following faces: WrapTop, SideRearTop, SideRearBot, WrapBot, SideFrontBot, and SideFrontTop.
    • It is associated with material Mat2 , which can refer to material properties or solid properties.
  • Zone 3 consists of the reinforcement of the top flange and is defined as follows.
